The committee welcomes paper submissions on the topic of "Female Leadership in 21st Century". Authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their work at the 2018 Women in Dance Leadership Conference.
Submission Guidelines:
- Paper must be written and presented by female author
- Abstract no more than 200 words submitted via Google Form
- Full paper no more than 5,000 words submitted via email
- Author headshot/representative imagine submitted via email
- Timely submission of the abstract and paper via email is critical to the success of the program. The procedures and timetable enumerated below will apply.

You will be notified as to the results of the screening process by October 1st, 2017. The committee will try to give authors time to respond to comments from the screening process.
What's included:
- Selected authors will present their paper throughout the conference
- Selected authors will have their paper made available on the Women in Dance Leadership website
- Selected authors will have access to all conference events between 01/11-13/2018
- There will be NO production fee once the work is accepted
What's not included:
- The selected author will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses
About Women in Dance Leadership Conference:
Women in Dance Leadership Conference is the first and only festival in the U.S. to celebrate women in dance. It is a leadership conference for and about women. The conference is to investigate, explore, and reflect on women’s leadership by resenting innovative and multicultural dance work to celebrate, develop, and promote women’s leadership in dance making, dance related fields, and other male dominated professions.
At the 2018 conference, we will have Liz Lerman as the keynote speaker, and we will present female soloists including 1) Blakely White-Mcguire, a former principal dancer and now guest from the world renown Martha Graham Dance Company, 2) Yin Yue, award winning choreographer and dancer, 3) Indya Childs, Top 25 to Watch named by Dance Magazine in 2015.
Conference Dates: 01/11/2018 – 01/13/2018
Dance on Film Submission Presentation: 01/12/2018 at 8:00 p.m. (or in a designated space at the conference)
Submission Guidelines:
- Film must be created, directed, and choreographed by women
- Must be between 5-10 minutes in length
- Any genre is encouraged
Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2017
What's included:
- Selected creators will present their work on 01/12/2018 or in a designated space at the conference
- Selected creators will have access to all conference events between 01/11-13/2018
- There will be NO production fee once the work is accepted
What's not included:
- The selected creator will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses

- Choreography must be created by female choreographer
- Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work
- Time limit: Group (10-15 minutes) Duet or Solo (7-10 minutes)
- Any genre is encouraged
Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2017
What's included:
- Selected choreographers will present their work on 01/12/2018
- Selected choreographers and their performers will have access to all conference events between 01/11 - 01/13/2018
- There will be NO production fee once the work is accepted
What's not included:
- The selected choreographers and their performers will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses
