Call for Submissions by Female Creators

2019 Women in Dance Leadership Conference is accepting choreography submissions by female choreographers to present their work at Mandell Theater in Philadelphia, PA with local, regional, national, and international presenters in the audience.
Submission Deadline – January 31, 2019
Selection Confirmation Date – April 1, 2019
Conference Date – October 17 to October 19, 2019
Choreography Guideline
Choreography must be created by female choreographer
Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work are all welcome
Time limit: Group (10-15 minutes) Duet or Solo (5-10 minutes)
Any genre is encouraged
A $20 application fee is required for each piece
Submission Guideline
Only submit a complete video of the work, please no excerpts or full evening work that needs edits
If submit a link that is password protected, please provide the correct password
Make sure your work does not exceed the maximum length
The submission is only complete once the application fee is processed through paypal or venmo
What is included for selected choreographer
Selected choreographers will present their work on 10/18/19 or 10/19/19
Selected choreographers will have access to all conference events
The performers from the selected work will have access to all conference events
There will be NO production fee once the work is accepted
The conference has invited artistic directors from major dance companies and professional festivals to attend the selected choreographer’s concerts
What’s not included
The selected choreographers and their performers will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses

Dance in the Spirit Journal ISSN 2639-2259 is published quarterly. Our inaugural issue will be published, Volume 1, Number 1, in late August 2018. It will be published quarterly each year (August, November, February, and May).
This is an online journal.
We pay $600-$1,200 US Dollars per accepted article, depending on length.
We publish artlcles between 2,500 and 6,000 words. Please contact us with questions or queries.
Our interest is in articles that are about dance and how dance has empowered or encouraged you to grow, heal, recover, change, and how you consider dance a part of your daily meditation practice. We love reading good stories, personal essays, creative nonfiction in nature, and that are written from the core of your spirit. Video or pictures accompanying your story are welcome, provided that it is 30 seconds long or less, and that you can confirm you own the rights. We only publish original work so please only send in what you have not already published. Simultaneous submissions are not accepted because authors will be notified of acceptance 10 business days after the submission deadline.
Our next open submission period is October 15, 2018 - January 5, 2019 for V1, N3, "The Season of Light" themed issue. V1, N4 will focus on The Power of Dance!
My name is Detric Kovu, I am a Dance Ambassador of the Performing Arts & a Member of the International Dance Council (CID UNESCO). My mission is to heal through Dance while fostering Cultural Exchange between nations abroad; raising awareness of Environmental concerns, and while encouraging proactive solutions to them.
I have received an offer to be a Dance Educator at The Central School - Dubai (UAE) starting June 15th, 2018 for a duration of 2 years. Utilizing my Dance Education Program GENESIS PROJECT to teach the students about Hip-Hop Culture, Dance, Music, Art & History. I am working to accrue $1,560 USD to purchase my Work Permit/Visa. Which upon proof of Receipt the total amount of expenses will be reimbursed, in no longer than 5 days of receiving the receipt via email. The School will cover all travel expenses/costs accomodating me with Business Class/First Class (International Standards) Intercontinental Flights and Housing.

Explore the universal elements of the Movement Alphabet and integrate movement Motif symbols into dance experiences to connect physical, cognitive and socio-emotional learning. You will utilize dance literacy strategies to transform your teaching and creative practices. Those who successfully complete all course requirements will receive the Language of Dance® Foundations Certificate. This course is for dance educators, movement specialists and classroom teachers (K-12, private studio, higher education and arts specialists).
