Performance outcome of the workshop 'Come and dance with me'

in the framework of the pilot project ''Youth audience development for dance today'

We invite you to the performance of the workshop 'Come and dance with me', taught and designed by the choreographers Alexandra Waierstall and Maria Kamberis, in the framework of the pilot project 'Youth Audience Development for Dance today'. It is organised by Dance Gate Lefkosia Cyprus in collaboration with Goethe Institute and Dancehouse Lefkosia. The performance will take place on Sunday, 12th of March 2017, at 17:00, at the Dancehouse Lefkosia.

After the performance there will be a cocktail reception and discussion open to the public.

The presentation is open to the public and we will be very happy to especially welcome young audience (13-18 years old) with or without any experience in dance.

10o Καλοκαιρινό Φεστιβάλ χορού 2013

SiteSpecific σε πολλά σημεία στο κέντρο της Λεμεσού

Το 10^ο καλοκαιρινό φεστιβάλ χορού sitespecific της Νέας Κίνησης Ομάδων Χορού, Χορευτών και Χορογράφων Κύπρου θα πραγματοποιηθεί στη Λεμεσό από τις 21 μέχρι 27 Ιουλίου του 2013.

Με εννέα ομάδες που θα παρουσιάσουν τη νέα τους χορογραφική δουλειά, από τις 21 μέχρι τις 27 Ιουλίου 2013 στο κέντρο της Λεμεσού, θα γιορτάσει τα δέκα χρόνια ζωής του το καλοκαιρινό φεστιβάλ χορού, ένας από τους σημαντικότερους θεσμούς του χορού στην Κύπρο. Όπως κάθε χρόνο έτσι και φέτος, για μια εβδομάδα, ο κόσμος θα έχει την ευκαιρία να περπατήσει στο κέντρο της Λεμεσού, να θυμηθεί παλιές ξεχασμένες γωνιές της πόλης ή και ιστορικά σημεία και κτήρια, τα οποία οι καλλιτέχνες αναλαμβάνουν να  «ξαναζωντανέψουν» και να τα παρουσιάσουν μέσα από τη δική τους ματιά. «Σκαλίζουν» ιστορικές και κοινωνικές πτυχές της ζωής της πόλης από το παρελθόν και το παρόν, παρουσιάζοντας τις απόψεις τους μέσα από σύγχρονες ευρηματικές δημιουργίες.

Το φετινό φεστιβάλ εκτός από επετειακό χαρακτήρα, έχει και μια «θεματική ενότητα»  που αφορά στην  κρίση με οποιαδήποτε μορφή και έννοια θέλει ο καθένας να την αντιληφθεί και να την προσεγγίσει.

Οι χορογράφοι αναζήτησαν τους χώρους τους στο κέντρο της Λεμεσού, σε συνεργασία με την ομάδα ActiveSpaces, με σκοπό κυρίως, να αξιοποιηθούν εγκαταλελειμμένοι χώροι. Με αυτή τη θεματολογική γραμμή, οι καλλιτέχνες καταθέτουν το σχόλιό τους σε  χώρους «θύματα της κρίσης» δίνοντας τους μία άλλη διάσταση. .  Χώροι των παραστάσεων μεταξύ άλλων θα είναι: Υπόγειο Πλ. Ηρώων, Χώρος Στάθμευσης Οδός Σαλαμίνος, Χώρος Στάθμευσης Αρχ. Κυπριανού, Οδός Αγκύρας 45, Αποθήκη Βουδασκά Οδός Ελλήνων, Warehouse Οδός Γ. Μιτέλλα, Παλιό Ξυδάδικο Οδός Γ. Μιτέλλα, Πέρασμα Οδός Νίκου Ξιούτα και Α' Δημοτικό Οδός Βραγαδίνου.

  10^th Summer Dance Festival 2013

Site Specific in the city centre of Limassol

The 10^th site specific Summer Dance Festival of the New Movement of Dance Companies, Dancers and Choreographers of Cyprus will be held in Limassol from 21^st to 27^th of July 2013.

The Summer Dance Festival, one of the most important dance institutions of Cyprus, will celebrate its tenth anniversary with nine companies that will present their new choreographies, from the 21^st to the 27^th of July 2013 at the city centre of Limassol. Just like every year, this year too, people will have the opportunity to walk in the city centre of Limassolfor a week, to remember old, forgotten corners of the city, historical sites and buildings, which the artists take to ‘revive’ and to present them through their own eyes. They ‘delve’ into historical and social aspects of city life from the past and the present, presenting their views through contemporary imaginary creations.

Apart from its celebratory character, this year’s festival has a “themed chapter” concerning the “crisis” in any kind of form and meaning one wishes to comprehend and approach it with.

The choreographers have searched their spaces in the centre of Limassol, in collaboration with the association Active Spaces, with their primary aim, to exploit abandoned sites.With this thematic line, the artists submit their comment in spaces that are “victims of the crisis” thus providing another dimension.Performance sites include: Heroes' Square Basement, Salaminos Str. Parkins Space, Arch. Kyprianos Parking Space, 45, Agkyras Str. , Voudaska, Warehouse Ellinon Str., G. Mitella Str. Warehouse , Old Vinegar House G.Mitella Str. , Perasma, Nikou Xiouta Str., 1st Primary School, Vragadinou Str.
