SEAD Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance is accepting applications for the New Position asFaculty Teacher and Coordinator
In 1993, Susan Quinn's vision was to create SEAD Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance as a centre for training contemporary dancers and choreographers as well as a vibrant space that provides the public with performances and education in contemporary dance art. SEAD became one of the first places to offer professional-caliber training for contemporary artists in Austria. SEAD today is an accredited academy with more than 100 international students from over 30 countries who can attend different educational programs: the four year undergraduate-program is recognized as university-level studies since 2001, and the the postgraduate-programs BODHI PROJECT (for dancers) and I.C.E. (for choreographers) where incorporated to the school-system in 2008. SEAD is a meeting point for experimental collaborations, residencies, and performances. As a cultural space open for the general public SEAD offers an educational program for adults, teens and kids, and organizes various events in the field of contemporary dance and performance art to enrich the cultural scene in Salzburg. Since 2008, SEAD is home-base and production place for the internationally touring company BODHI PROJECT.
SEAD seeks for a responsible person passionate about their field of interest and able to mentor, track progress and assess student development to take on the joint role of Faculty teacher and Coordinator in a full time position
We are looking for a strong, physical, clear teacher for the professional academy program. Ideally the successful candidate offers one or more subjects of the curriculum which includes contemporary technique, yoga, somatic practices, dance theory, composition, improvisation. The faculty teacher plays a key role in the rotating faculty system of SEAD and will be involved in the curriculum development.
The incumbent will be a student advisor and coordinates the audition process and leads the community dance program taught by academy students. It is an expectation of the role that the incumbent will develop and lead these areas.
The successful candidate will be PhD qualified or have equivalent professional experience, and experienced as a leading educator in their specialist field. Additionally, excellent management skills and excellent english are requested.
